ShadowsMyst

I'm new to this forum, although I've been doing webcomics for a long time. I've been kind of feeling isolated lately (as an artist) and want to get back into the webcomics community and find some like minded sorts of creatives to jam with and sort of help keep my creative mojo healthy by being social. :)

So this seemed a friendly place, if sort of quiet ATM. I recognize some names here (Hi Gar! I did a guest comic for you a looooong time ago!) so I thought I'd say hi and see if there was anything I could contribute or maybe get some thoughts from other people on.

Anyway, hi.

Gar

Hi Shadowmyst, were you on the old BuzzComix boards? I'm afraid I don't recognise you straight away, what comic did you used to do? I had a quick look at Brymstone (just a couple of pages because I'm at work) your art's really nice, and the style is kind of familiar but I can't quite place it. I want to say Shifters?

Anyway, welcome to the board. It's nice here :)

Rob

Yeah it has been quiet mostly because the articles here tend to stir discourse and the staff has dwindled to the point where I'm the only one contributing and my life got crazy and something had to break. I'll get some new stuff up eventually. In the mean time the forum is a sort of "talk amongst yourself" mode... which I'm ok with actually. I made this place so there would always be a place for webcomics folks to talk. No matter what happens the permanence of this place will never change.

And I've hear of Brymstone... LOL. Thanks for joining up and welcome. There's LOT'S of articles in the archive if you are interested. But everyone here is generally very nice.

Except me.  ;D

Let me know if you need anything. I'll be down in the comic mines.

Gar:
DING DING! You win a cookie! Indeed Shifters was mine. I'm not updating it right now, hence why I've got my Brymstone duds on in my signature and such, but yes that's where you would know me from. Yes I was on the Buzzcomix boards. I was sad when they died. A lot of the places I used to go to socialize with other artisty types have saddly dwindled to nothing and I'm trying to find new stomping grounds. Its good to see you again. :)

Rob:
I understand how that can go, no content, and the traffic falls off. Its the same with blogs as it is with comics really. You've heard of Brymstone? Cool! I hope it was good things. I've read some of the articles, I've been lurking for a while, but I've just sort of decided to come out of hiding now. Hopefully I'll have some useful stuff to say sometimes. :)

Richard

Welcome ShadowMyst, hope you enjoy your stay. I've think I've come across your comic a few times so it's nice to meet you.

Gar

Yay, cookie! I shall keep it in my browser.

Also, you've got a style I was able to recognise in its evolved form, so that's good :)

This board was a bit busier when I joined and it actually really reminded me of Buzz, there's even a couple of old Buzzers around (remember Plughead? He pops in from time to time. Sarah Zero's still going! He's doing it all in splash pages now)

ScottLincoln

Welcome ShadowsMyst! You've got some good looking pages, there, hope you enjoy the forum  ;D

ShadowsMyst

@ Richard & ScottLincoln:

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I hope to have some great discussions on here with everyone. :)

@Gar:

Well at least I'm recognizable... and memorable it seems. :) I remember Plughead! I just followed him on twitter actually, wondering what some of the old Buzzers had gone. I miss that place.

Rob

I love Sara Zero (even though it has gone a little wonkers in the last few months). I think it's one of the most original comics out there. I love his merging of different styles and mediums. I've been reading him for years... I actually met him on the old Half Pixel forums and have followed him around ever since.

When I opened the site here I went after him and tried to get him to join the community. He did but he's not around much. Considering he barely has time for the sporadic SZ updates he's been doing lately I take what I can get.  ;)

This is me... still surprised that Marie hasn't recognized me as the guy who included Brymstone in my forthcoming article for Black Gate Magazine.

LOL. :D

Nice to meet you ShadowsMyst :)

@rob

OMG, am I a total dork or what. :_; I didn't even put it together, DESPITE your webcomic and this community being in the signature of the emails you sent me.

I'm sorry. Everyone can have a very good laugh at me now. ^^;; I'm terrible!

I thought that was published ages ago though? It was like, march 2010 I did the questionnaire? I've sort of checked back at blackgate's website, wondering when it would come out. I couldn't figure out if the magazine was digital or print. I was actually kind of worried it would come out while I was on hiatus for health reasons last year. I'm doing better now though, and managing weekly updates (for the most part) So it if wasn't published yet, horray! People might actually come back to an updating (mostly regularly) site.

@ otomo

Nice to meet you too. :)

Rob

There's actually a really long story about why the article hasn't been printed yet (yes Black Gate is a PRINT magazine). I'll spare you.

The article is now scheduled for the spring issue 2011.

I'm supposed to have the latest version of the article in to the managing editor no later than Mid-March; which I fully intend to do. Then there's like five domino's that have to fall in place and assuming they all do then you will see the article in the spring issue.

Hopefully.  :-[

And don't feel embarrassed. It's a big business (webcomics)... I only pretend to know everyone.  ;D
