Title: dArt group
Post by: GaborBoth on January 13, 2010, 02:03:43 PM
As I see lot of us have deviantart accounts, how about we make a group or a club there showing we are readers of the site? It'd help keep contact with other members and it'd also help to promote this site.
What do you think?

That isn't a bad idea:

Send me a message on dA: http://mulletmantakeru.deviantart.com/ (some of my work is NSFW, just as a warning.)

I'd join! Shoot me a note when you set it up, my account is here (http://augest.deviantart.com)!

I'll hop on, although the art at my dA account is not related to my comic.

I'm in favor of this, and you can find my account here (http://realbignuke.deviantart.com)

A facebook group, twitter channel, and wave would also be good. I'd make the facebook account, but I'm too lazy to have even made one for my own comic yet.

Yes. If anyone here would like to serve as an ambassador to the Devaintart community I would appreciate it. My account name there is quikthnkr.

http://quikthnkr.deviantart.com/

I've been meaning to get over there and announce our presence. But alas, there are so many hours in a day and I'm burning the candle at 8 ends right now as it is.

Anything you other deviants can do to organize the movement over there would be appreciated.  ;)

I'm glad there are people who'd like to join. I just proposed the idea, though, I don't think I'm the man to create and manage it. Anyone?

I'd join: ulovetoast.deviantart.com

I'd offer to create the group, but don't you have to have a paid account to do this?

It seems free but there is some submission process that you have to got through and get approved before the group gets made.

I submitted the group Webcomics-Community for creation. Awaiting approval.
;)

The group was approved and it is kinda set up.

To be honest I'm not sure what to do in there so I made Trevor (TakaComics) a co-founder and I made all of you contributors which sounded higher up the food chain than members.

I've invited everyone who put their DA ID in this thread.

Gabor since it was your idea I'm saddened not to see your DA account name here. If I can find it elsewhere I'll send you an invite. Otherwise you guys can find the group page here. (http://webcomics-community.deviantart.com/)

Feel free to do whatever with this. From what I can see it looks like Ran is the most well known DA member in this thread so perhaps she knows how to get things moving with a DA group.

Ran if you want me to make you a CO-Founder of the group so you can take matters more in hand just say the word (and tell me how) and I'll make it happen.

Thanks everyone for the great idea.

My dArt name was in my introduction topic, here it is: http://gaborboth.deviantart.com/ (http://gaborboth.deviantart.com/)
I should put it in my sig..
So anyway, we could make a kickass logo, post the upcoming GUNBABY comics, and promote our stuff like Reddit, etc..cool. I hope it will get us more people here.

Edit: By the way, I added a book in the resources topic, but since I didn't want to doublepost, I edited it in the comment so the topic hasn't bumped up. So, just saying there is new stuff in there.

It seems like things are moving over at Deviantart. I'm a little surprised I haven't heard from anyone on the GUNBABY thing but hopefully that will see some movement soon. Ran seems to know what's going on over there so I made her a co-founder and Gabor I approved your membership a little while ago.

So things are going good.  ;)

I'm actually kicking around the idea of making an installment of GUNBABY. Me. Crazy, right?

Since I wasn't hearing from anyone else I was thinking of doing it too. How said is that? With my shitty art?

Yours is better than mine. That's extremely sad considering my dad is an artist  :-\

Maybe you should get your Dad to draw your GUNBABY comic. You could write it and he could draw it. It would be a fun father/son exercise.  :D

Mine is easy, just http://yamino.deviantart.com/ . =D

I already send my request to join.  Gunbaby art coming soon...

I approved your request Yamino and I tried to upgrade you and several others to "Contributor." Apparently that is a change that you, the user, has to approve.  ;)

I have approved! I still can't post my Gunbaby art though, for some reason. T_T

I actually like to use submissions on Sundays on the front page here with a link to the artists comic. So if you could PM it to me or something I'll get it up on DA when your turn comes in like 2 weeks if thats ok?

Let me know.

I don't really understand. XD; I'm fine with you posting on the front page here in two weeks if you want, but I was trying to submit to the DA group.  Why bother waiting to post it to the DA group? o-o
Title: Re: dArt group
Post by: Rob on January 23, 2010, 12:00:42 PM
I guess I don't have a problem with that. I just thought it would be nice if it was the first time everyone saw it when it showed up on the front page. But it isn't that big of a deal. The only issue with the DA thing is only a founder can submit right now. I'm going to see if I can change that though.

As I said over at the DA site. I was expecting volunteers from here to run things over there. I really have no idea how their site works or what I'm doing in the admin functions. I'm bound to destroy something sooner or later.

Hopefully it won't be too important.  :-\

I'm the owner of the Sister Claire group, so I know a bit about how it works. If you can figure out how to promote me, I can help out a bit with organizing things.  I have a lot of projects to oversee, though, so I can't be in charge of it 24-7. XD;

Ok I think I got permissions straightened out with that so contributors should actually be able to contribute (kinda silly for them not to be able too huh?).

No promises.

Yamino I'm going to make you Co-Founder. I'll continue to update whatever GUNBABY stuff that comes to me through this site here once I post it. Folks who are members there who want to submit it themselves can do it whenever they want. Anything you can do over there to keep order would be groovy.

I know you are busy though, do what you can with my thanks.  ;)

I sent you and Senshu offers to become contributors there. I have no idea if that matters to you. Just thought I would mention it.

Thanks, I'll try it out. : ) Though, I haven't really found a coherent explanation of this gunslinging baby thing you've got going...

Oh, cool. Thanks.

Also, sorry for submitting something random to the group, I didn't notice DA had added a submission box where the usual "favorites" category was. Whoops. haha

That's probably my fault as much as yours. I really don't know much about how that site works but I'm having to learn as each problem pops up. Whatever the site "usually" looks like it's probably my fault it doesn't look that way.

Works in progress... we are only four weeks old so far.  ;)

confuse me 8( Maybe I'll wait til I post here more lol...

I must admit, DA groups seem overly complicated to me. XD; I like Storm-Artist's club system better.
Title: Re: dArt group
Post by: teh hchano on February 09, 2010, 01:07:41 PM
I think even Sheezyart had probably an easier system...
you just joined and there was a section to be like,

Sheezy> Here's what's in your gallery...click this button
to add this pic to the group.
Me> oh, okay... *does*
Sheezy> GOOD JOB, YOU'VE DONE IT! :D
Me> YAYYY \:D/

:< so easy... DA has to sort everything tho and make it
all confusing... lol.
Title: Re: dArt group
Post by: Rob on February 09, 2010, 01:12:54 PM
I think you just have to go to the group and apply to join. Then I approve it. As far as submissions go we are only putting GUNBABY images/comics in the featured folder but there is a community art folder that anyone who belongs to this community (in other words you have to hang over here not just over there) can submit any of their own works to show off to the DA group and it's watchers. Submissions from contributors are automatically approved. Submissions from members have to be approved.

I think that's it. Yeah it is kinda complicated.  ::)
