Hey, guys,

I've been slowly working on a revamp of my site, starting with the header.  There's a cool javascript trick I'm excited to test out.  You can read about it here: http://webdev.stephband.info/parallax.html

My idea is to have a giant stained-glass window that only shows a portion depending on where your mouse hovers.  I thought it would be fun to have you guys give me some feedback about the window itself before I move onto the next step.  So, here it is:

I'm hoping to make it so there's a kind of light source on a further back layer so, also depending on mouse location, the window will look illuminated in different ways.
I look forward to hearing what you think!

The stained glass window is 100% badass!  Great work =D  I can't wait to see the finished product!

Ditto!  Parallax looks awesome, and combining it with a banner as amazing as yours would be mindblowing.

sweet, thanks, guys!  If there's anything you all could suggest color-wise, or any piece that doesn't quite look right, I'd appreciate the input.  I'm quickly approaching the point where making changes becomes a headache.

UPDATE:
My initial test run has been very successful.  Check out the progress so far at http://rodenbeek.com

My next step is to break the glass pieces into individual chunks that will float around each other and make a sort of 3D landscape of epic awesomeness.

Thanks again for the positive feedback, it's been very encouraging for me.

That's so cool! Looking forward to seeing it with the sun behind it :)

ah, good call, I actually had that effect working, but wasn't happy with the results.  I'll plug it back in, see what you think...

Looks awesome. Kinda want to figure out an excuse to use it for my stuff.

The possibilities for its application are endless, everyone should use it!  I'm looking forward to having a header that's just as awesome as anything I post.  There are some really good samples of uses at the application site, I linked it in my first post here.  It took me a little while to think of a way to use it that wasn't just a rolling landscape.

If anyone does wind up taking a crack at it, post it in the forum so we can all see it.  Feel free to write me at [email protected] if you need help coding it in.  I had to have a friend help me!
