Handshake Survey

Hey guys. I gave this it's own thread because here I just want feedback on the survey. I know I asked for questions in the other thread... this is the result.

The survey isn't really for taking for you guys. I mean, yes you are fans as well as creators and some of you may go to cons as fans but I guess what I think we are really looking for is fans who are just fans. At least I think so. That certainly can be one of the things we talk about here.

Here is a link to the survey as it stands now.

Take a look. Let me know what you think. It's completely editable and can be changed before I tell everyone about it (in fact you might want to keep the link to yourself until we finish this conversation so we don't get locked into things the way they are now). I recognize that sometimes how you ask a question or phrase a possible answer can influence the survey and I'm no professional pollster so please keep an open mind. I did my best. My agenda here is to gather information. I'm not looking to rig the system or game the survey. I want the truth.

So if you have any suggestions for changes or comments in general please fire away. Even more importantly if you feel I missed something then please bring that to my attention.

In question 4, you may want to add an option of "I would think they were a hypochondriac and a paranoiac and dismiss them as a fool."

Also, a typo in question 10...even/event.

Thanks for the typo watch Gib. I actually did that even/event thing twice in the same question. Too much with the typies today. :(

Are you serious about the added response? I mean if not.. LOL.

If you are... don't you think option 1 or 2 cover that sufficiently? I tried really hard to avoid language with inflammatory connotations. LOL. Your suggestion might be worded a bit too strongly. :P

If you're serious I don't want you to think I'm dismissing it. I just might need some convincing.

A couple times you make reference to previously answering either yes or no on question 4, when question 4 is not a yes or no question. I assumed you meant question three, but you might want to fix that up if possible.

Thanks Ran that's a good catch. I added a question to the beginning after I had made the other nine questions and it completely threw off the order of those questions that refer to other questions.

I do believe it's fixed now though. A couple people had taken the survey but I had to wipe the results and relaunch it with the edits.

Sorry if you (and by you I mean whoever may be reading this) are one of the people who took it but I kind of implied that might happen when I invited the critique. I want to make it right before I worry about getting results.

I think I'll leave this thread up until Friday night. If no one finds any more problems or offers any pertinent suggestions by then I'll start pushing it out on the weekend. It should be interesting and regardless of the results I've enjoyed the experiment.

Yeh, I'm serious about the added response...or at least, I should say, that would be my reaction to that incident. Perhaps the bit about being a fool is incendiary, but I certainly think that's a valid and probably not uncommon reaction. The first two choices don't cover it at all, since I wouldn't be all that offended (I would say more upset or put out if anything) and my concern isn't that they find me personally to be unclean, but moreso that they fear disease at every turn. And I wouldn't think them rude so much as I would think them irrational.

Now, if I were making a joke, it would be something like "Tell the person 'Well, have a nice day, Howard Hughes.'"

I think 'do the salute but prefer a handshake' should be added as a response to question 9

Also I agree with Captain Eloquence, 'I would think they were a paranoid hypochondriac' best sums up my own feelings on the issue for question 4.

All right. I'll add it right now. I'm glad you guys brought it. It would have never occurred to me that it was an option needed. ;)

EDIT: Change to question #4 made. Results blanked and survey relaunched. Any other suggestions?

No more suggestions? I'm going to officially launch the Survey tomorrow if I don't get any more feedback.

If you think it's ok the way it is I'd love to hear that too. ;)

EDIT: In fact if I don't get any more feedback I think I'll front page it late tonight since we didn't have a Friday Article.
