Richard

Just posting my hello here. I met Rob at this year's Connecticon while sitting across from him in Artist's Colony. It took awhile for me to get here, but things have been a bit busy as of late. I did manage to get here though!

My name is Richard and I'm one of two founders for a new website at www.interversecomics.com. I write for five the series that are currently running and try to keep the website updating smoothly.

At our site we currently have 7 comics running (one is on hiatus until we find a new artist) and we update every single day of the week. We've just surpassed 50 pages of material and there is a lot more coming. We have many different genres represented: urban fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, horror, super-hero, western, and comedy.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting to many of you and possibly seeing you guys at future conventions. The next one that we have planned out is New York Comic Con where we will be at booth 955.

Welcome to the group!  Look forward to talking with you here and there, I'm sure you'll like it here.

Rob

Richard good to hear from you again. You had quite a posse at Connecticon. And so ambitious. I knew you had loads of comics but I had no idea you guys were so new to it.

Thanks for dropping by/joining up. I hope you like the place and find it useful.

I have a question for you regarding NY Comic Con. You say you have your booth number already? Are you in the Webcomics Pavilion or small press or exhibitor floor? I'm curious because they have my contract for the webcomics pavilion but supposedly (at least this is what they keep telling me) their website isn't set up to accept payment for the Webcomics Pavilion yet so their coding people are fixing that and as soon as they are done they will tell me and then I can pay.

So I'm wondering if I'm getting the run around.

I don't think I am but I thought I would check and see what area you are in.

Once again, welcome. Hope to see you here often.

Gar

Hi, welcome to the board!

Had a quick look at your site, there's some good stuff on there.

Richard

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

Hmm... Sounds like a little bit of a situation there, Rob. We chose the small press booth after little to no details of the webcomics pavilion were emerging. We do indeed have our booth number which is 955 and we are able to fully access the Exhibitor's toolkit. We paid for our booth about 3 weeks ago now, so I don't know what the problem is for you guys. We had a couple of difficulties in the beginning when they gave us 2 booths instead of one, but that was solved when I visited their offices in Norwalk.

The best bet that I could say you have, Rob, is either contact your specific agent for the convention, assuming they assigned you one, or go down directly to Norwalk to try to sort it out. The problem at the moment is that most of the people who are dealing with NYCC are also dealing with the Star Wars Celebration. Most of them won't be back until sometime next week.

Are you planning on having any show exclusive items? Once you get access to the Exhibitor's toolkit online you'll be able to list up to 5 show exclusives. There you are able to put up the title of it, the description, and the category. After that each exhibitor is allowed to upload up to 2 images for their exclusives (which means if you have 5 exclusives you can only display 2). The problem for you at the moment is that they only allow the images to be sent in until August 20th.

Just tell me if you're having anymore problems with this, Rob, and I can see if I can help you out. I'm located right next to Norwalk, so going down to the Reed offices is pretty easy.

Thanks for the compliment about the site, Gar, we aim to please!  ;D

Rob

Actually Mark Fitch has been very helpful. From what I understand from him no one in the Webcomics Pavilion has paid because of this tech issue. But he said it's almost sold out too. I just wanted to know if you were in the Webcomics Pavilion and had paid already. I didn't think he was giving me the runaround, he's been really nice, but it doesn't hurt to check right? Last I heard from him about a week ago he said he had my contract on his desk and that the work on the site was almost done.

Hopefully they will allow some special circumstance submissions for those in the Webcomics Pavilion but I wouldn't be surprised if, since they are charging us significantly less, they don't want us to get all of those benefits.

I didn't want to go with the small press thing because of the additional money. What can I say.. I'm broke. But I definitely make sure to stop over and say hi.

Thanks for the info.  ;)

Richard

That's good news, Rob!

One thing I can think of you doing, if you want to offer an exclusive, is to e-mail the representative who handles the pictures right now. She's out until the 17th but that's still 3 days before the deadline. I would just tell her that you're almost done with the process, you're in the webcomics pavilion, and you just want to make sure that she gets what she needs before the deadline.

Her name is Allison Farina and her e-mail is [email protected]. I would just mark the subject as "Show Exclusive Image(s)"

Rob

Thanks man. Big help. ;)
