I noticed the general discussion forum is still pretty filled with webcomic related things and not much else, so in an attempt to make it less one sided as well as some general community building (is it me, or has this place been a little slow lately?) I've decided to start a thread where you can discuss whatever music you're listening to to annoy your parents/roommates/significant others, whatever movie you liked despite it shortcomings, whatever book you're struggling to get through because the middle is so slowly paced, etc.

I just finished reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods again. I swear this book gets better every time I read it. I recommend it to everyone who hasn't read it. The concept is pretty simple - a man with a past gets tangled up in the world of the Gods who got brought America by the belief of immigrants.

EDIT: Playing's fine too. Gamers are not excluded! :)

I'm all over Halo: Reach now whenever I get free time which isn't often. I'm listening to Sarah Harmer's amazing new album "Oh Little Fire" whenever I remember to bring my MP3 player (and often whilst playing Halo). I'm slogging my way through Alan Moore's writing for comics book which is easily the densest little booklet on the planet and not a lick of fun to read so far. I tend to watch the following shows on Hulu when they are in season:

In Plain Sight
Burn Notice
Royal Pains
House
Simpsons
Family Guy
Stargate Universe
Couger Town
Castle
Legend of the Seeker
The Daily Show

And the last movie I saw in the theater was "Inception" which was pretty great. The last movie I saw on DvD was "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" and it was utter shit.

I've been playing the hell out of Halo: Reach as well. Finished the campaign and have been playing a lot of Firefight with my friends.
Watched "The Losers" on DVD the other night. Meh. A triumph of style over substance, and more than a little implausible. In other words: a fine example of a brainless action movie.

Watching:
Terriers
Boardwalk Empire
Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Sym-Bionic Titan

Reading:
Essential Captain America vol.1
December 6 by Martin Cruz Smith

Listening to:
I'm OK You're OK -- Jason Falkner
Intriguer -- Crowded House

Playing: Left 4 Dead. Bought it on Steam when they released the DLC called The Sacrifice. Bought BOTH Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 together for a total of $10. Pretty crazy deal, so I jumped on it. They only did that for a day or so. Was playing Left 4 Dead on my son's Steam account, so now I have my own, but I have to start over on achievements and I was one campaign away from What Are You Trying To Prove (all original campaigns on Expert).

Watching: Doc Martin. Funniest show I've seen in a long time. British comedy about a top-notch London surgeon who moves to a small coastal village to be a general practitioner. Much funnier than it sounds.

Reading: Nothing but programming books. All over the place too.

Listening: From Johnny Cash to Motorhead. Pretty much everything except rap. If rap is poetry, then you know what kind it is? Angry nursery rhymes...

Watched all the Happy Harry cartoons on YouTube the other night, really funny and well-animated.

Currently, when I get a chance to watch TV, I've been watching the MLB playoffs or reruns of Family Guy or American Dad.  Other than a few webcomics, I haven't gotten much reading done and I'm waaaay behind on my movies.  I have a mini-vacation starting tomorrow where I could go see a flick or two, but I was thinking that I also need to catch up on my webcomic updates.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Hate to break it to you, but the in the end, you wind up buying a new PC because new components make the old ones worthless...

I haven't turned on my TV in like two months, and even then it was to play my PS1 games. On Youtube though I've been watching a bunch of Let's Plays(narrated playthroughs of games by assorted people) and Retsuplays(essentially, people making fun of the worst of the Let's Plays). Kind of boring, really, but I think it beats sitcoms!

I don't think that's boring. Let's Play's are fun. Never heard of Retsuplays though. And at least I'm not the worst geek here. :P Then again, I did skip classes to watch the GSL StarCraft II Tournament in Korea live

I was watching Psyche, Burn Notice, Leverage, ALMS racing and Aussie Rules Football, but now all their seasons are over so I'm mainly watching lucha libre, Formula 1 and American football.

I'm reading some of the Blake & Mortimer cartoon stories, and a bit of Henry IV.

I'm listening to an odd mix of 80's metal, prog-rock, and opera. Steelheart, Kansas, Spock's Beard, Pagliacci, that sort of thing.

Picked up the Kinect last week, it's deeply silly, but lots of fun :)

Rob

I can't stop listening to Cee-Lo Green's "Fuck you."

I may need help.  :-\

*As the title indicates... not really Safe For Work.

The radio-safe 'Forget You' is quite jarring if you heard the original first.
