Mutt

Hello.  Just thought I would throw an intro in.

I'm Mutt, I have had a webcomic since feb 2006 called Samurai Pride.  I was able to keep it updated for the first year or so, then it got harder and harder to keep up with.  Currently my comic resides in "Hiatus Hell" since I have decided to chuck everything and start over again.  I've renamed it The Tempest Legacy, and am currently reworking the script from the ground up. I was hoping to start posting new pages by mid-February, but it's looking like it might be closer to April or May since I really suck at writing.  :D   I have my outline about two/thirds complete and have 30 pages scripted so far. My intent is to have the story entirely complete and scripted so that I can then just focus on the art.

Thats the plan anyway.  ::)

If you want to check out my "old" stuff you can go to: http://scarymutt.com/sampridecomic/archive_page.php?comicID=1

All the principle characters introduced in these pages will be in Tempest Legacy, just keep in mind that the content of those pages are going to change.  ;)

I look forward to contributing to this new community! Thanks for looking.  :)

Rob

Welcome to the party Mutt. If you don't like writing maybe you can find yourself a partner here. Good luck with the relaunch. As someone else in hiatus hell I sympathize.

P.S. I love your art. Seriously, great stuff. If you aren't getting anywhere with your current storyline a relaunch is the way to go but I can't imagine the comic itself being "better." You might want to team up with someone who can write and has a better grasp on promotion and community management. What fans you had (from checking the comments and your forum) seemed rabid and devoted. Had you cultivated that I think you would have done much better.

I think you have some serious potential here. Your art alone is a cut above, if you can put out a compelling story and build the community I think you have a real shot at greatness. Good luck,

and welcome.  ;)

Thanks Rob!
It's not that I don't like writing exactly, it's more that I was basically so impatient to "get going" and I had SO MANY ideas I tried to skip around in order to get to the action and got lost.  I read every tutorial I could find on writing, then promptly ignored all the advice.  ::)   This time I am taking my time and putting it ALL down on paper before I start drawing.  Once I get Tempest Legacy up and running I'm definitely hoping to get the community built back up.  I would like to make something of this!

Thanks again!
Mutt

Welcome! Oh wait, your name is too similar to my name. We are now nemeses. That's how it works around here.

Yeah, your art is rather excellent, every page is quite 'rich' because you don't skimp on bold lines and lots of bright colour, which is a nice style.

Does this include all forumites with 4 letter M names? lol

Yes mutt, I too enjoyed your comic! It's got a very nice feel to it. Anthropomorphic character anatomy seems so difficult to me, but you make it look easy.

Mutt

Nemesis? nah.  ;D    But thanks, I'm glad you like my stuff.  I do plan on toning down the bright colors when I reboot as Tempest Legacy.  Just so you know.  ;)

All of us four letter M names should start a club.  :D    Thanks Mari,  I am working on making my characters even more animal like than they are now.  It's harder to do than it seems to be. :P  If I could paint like you I'd be happy.

Heya. I think you're doing pretty good - I usually get stuck in hiatus hell after the character designs are done!
I'm so optimistic, my blood type is 'B Positive'!

Hey Mutt! Just replied to your comment you posted in my hello post. Welcome, and can't wait to see more from you. Email me and I'll do an "interview" with you for my review site, if you're up to it. Short and sweet!
